In most high schools a student can graduate if they get at least a 70 in all of their classes, can a person succeed if they only recieve a diploma because they did the barest minimum?

yes a person can just because they made it with 70's doesnt mean that what they are capable in doing....also like here in texas we have a state test that we have to take to graduate so no i dont think it is to lenient.... i dont think we should have to take the test bc it is over all four yrs and most people arent smart enough to pass it so therefore they dont get their diploma! is that fair???

Well, most "successful" jobs won't hire a person with just a high school diploma. Most students who graduate with those grades don't go to college and don't get a good job.

In most states there are also standarized tests that students must pass to pass each course.

Not in New York state. Here you have to pass a ridiculous amount of standardized tests in addition to all the usual classes. I know a few people that repeatedly took Regents exams and couldn't pass, and ended up without a diploma because of it.

it might be where you live but where i am from its tougher and you need to do a lot more to get a diploma

it's obviously too lenient if you don't know the difference between to and too. god da.mn
