How do you put music onto the Sims 2?

When I open the music folder under the sims all the folders are there but when I put the MP3s into it noting happens in my game.

1.)Go to the folder with the music you want is.
2.) Copy the selected music
3.)Go to My Documents
4.)The Sims 2
5.)Open the Music folder
6.)Select what genre you want it in
7.)Paste and you're done

K first all the music has to be MP3. copy it and put it in the folder of the type of music genre it is. then open the sims 2 and gointo a house and click on the menu where u save and go to audio options and go to the genre and click the song so it will play. fill in the dot
