Most slugs have "eyespots," or, as they are occasionally known, "optic tentacles." If you get real close to a slug, or snail, you will see it has four (sometimes more) tentacles. Two on the top are usually longer, and have black spots on them. These spots are the eyespots. They are very primitive, and do not have lenses, so they can't see detail, but they can usually tell the difference between light and dark, and if a large shadow moves in fast enough, they will try to hide. However, they are not too good at catching detail, or even color, so you can often poke their eye stalks back in as long as you do not let your shadow fall on them. Feel like poking a slug? If you do, you may see the black eyespot get pulled deep down into the antenna before the antenna retracts all the way.

Yes they have very primitive eyes on the end of expendable stalks. They cannot see very well as there brain cannot process the information from a complex eye structure.
