Cardinals fan since day one......Carpenter is of course the best pitcher in the NL, Wainwright and Reyes are two excellent young prospects and will leap forward this year. If they can each perform with the maturity and poise they showed on baseball's grandest stage last October, they have nothing to worry about from here on out. Kip Wells doesn't have much of a track record....but hey, look what Dave Duncan did with Jeff Weaver. Braden Looper is a quality pitcher, he will just have to establish his durability to put up the kind of innings demanded by a starter. Overall, there are some question marks, but this will be a vastly underrated staff that will catch many a team by surprise. Let's not forget the return of a hopefully completely healthy Mulder around midseason.
And a shout out to James the Hot Cheeto.... is this Astros asskicking you are referring to the banner 2005 squad that won the NLCS and then rolled over and died in the WS? Or is it the one that Pujols crushed in 2004? Well you have to congratulate those Astros for winning the division six of the last seven years....oh wait, that's the CARDINALS! Your Houston Asstrokers are the eternal second banana my friend. I think the latest of our 10 (count 'em 10) titles speaks for itself. Please don't open your mouth unless you have a valid point to make.

Not too sure, after Carpenter the staff is pretty uncertain, and if Izzy doesn't perform i think Wainright might return to the closer role, i hope he doesn't cause he's been pretty good thus far in the Grapefruit League.
Hopefully Reyes can turn in a great & consistent performance, and if Mulder can return in June/July with his old reliable stuff then they should need to pick up any starting arms.
The pitchers we lost we're junk anyway, i hope Cubs fan enjoys Marquis, and Brewers fan enjoys paying Suppan (he only really performed in the post season, no chance for him to repeat) and well Weaver was only good because of Duncan, he's a master with the pitching staff.
The offense should be the same if not better, and the defense should be better.
But really I don't think the Redbirds really have to worry about it as the rest of the NLC is still garbage and the Cards did win last season with 83 regular season wins.

The Cards are going to be better this year than last. Better pitching, better offense, >and there's "So" to cover for Duncan late in games when the Cards are up 5.
People have forgotten the Cardinals actually went into the playoffs last year without their #2 starter(Mulder) and their closer. And yes the Cardinals record was down last year from what we are used to, you think that might have had anything to do with the fact only one starter even played in as many as 145 games!! - Edmonds missed a third of the season, Eckstein a fourth, even Pujols and Rolen missed 20 games each.
I'm looking forward to having a healthy Rolen this year, he played all year with a sore shoulder after the surgery. Pujols and Rolen are as good a 1 - 2 punch as there is in baseball.
I'm excited about this team - The Cards are going to make it 7 out of the last 8 as Central Division Champs. As we saw last year, a little luck, good pitching and they could pull it off again. Boy wouldn't that be sweet :-)

I think that you can tell I'm a Cards fan!
While it does suck that Suppan and Weaver are gone, I think the Cards pitching staff will be able to survive. Mulder will eventually have to come through for the team. Also, I'm not a big Kip Wells fan, but maybe he'll grow on me. The staff is okay right now, but an injury puts the Cards in bad shape. They must stay healthy!
Here's to a repeat of the 2006 World Series in 2007!!!
Go Cards!!!

except they are in a position to pull off some noticeably intelligent deals on previous due observe, no. enable's be lifelike. The enjoying cards are in a tricky, deep branch, and one massive reason they have been given a wager to win it or a minimum of slug it out 'until at last the tip became into Wainwright. This guy became right into a stud, an ace, a consultant #a million. there's no way they are in a position to have the money for that loss. except injuries decimate the different NL necessary contenders to point the enjoying field, the enjoying cards don't have lifelike hopes of becoming the playoffs this season.

<<--- Duh.
Realistically, it is extremely encouraging. Wainwright has the stuff to be a major impact but he is still young and starting for the first time. He may be brilliant and lose his mind for 1 or 2 innings all at the same time. With experience, Adam and Reyes will be a great rotation with Carpenter. Wells hasn't fooled anyone in 4 years so hopefully a little confidence knowing that Pujols, Rolen and the new kid - you know I'm talking Chris Duncan (who will hit 40HR's this year) - with that offense maybe Wells can relax a little and pitch instead of trying to be perfect with everything.
The 5th spot is a little desparate, but Looper actually looked good in spring training and could be a surprise. If he is keeping the ball down he can keep the Cards in the game. And they can catch anyone with one try batting through the heart of the lineup.

The Cardinals, well I guess every team always needs pitching.Dave Duncan and TLR will press the right buttons again this year and get us to the playoffs again this year. This is gonna be a fun year,I like the sound of DEFENDING WORLD CHAMPIONS,how about you? What I do know is the Cards have a potent line-up and are gonna score alot of runs, now if we can hold the other team down long enough to get to IZZY has to be seen.Izzy is chomping at the bit to get back out there, believe me he wont have 10 blown saves again this year.Yes there is hope of a repeat, only time will tell. But enjoy every day this kind of year doesnt come around to often, you know being Defending World Champion.See you at the ballpark

Chris Duncan will not hit 40 home runs,he still has to play defense.
Wainwright and Reyes starting for a full season,me thinks the Cardinals will be ok with their starters, but will not beat out the 2007 World Series Champs, the Milwakee Brewers.

"Chris Carpenter is as good as it gets, but beyond that, there are many questions caused by big free-agent defections. A diminished offense also hurts pitchers when it comes to fantasy value, as there will be fewer easy wins. Still, any given Cardinals starter should be a solid fantasy option." - SportingNews
Well, I'm a Red Sox fan and I'm telling you its Red Sox vs. Cards in the WS. But, sorry the Sox will win.

well i am not a Cardinal fan, but I don't think the Cardinal pitching will be quite as good as it was last year because Jeff Weaver went to the Mariners and Jeff Suppan went to the Brewers
