i was also wondering if the dimple is supposed to be on the 1/2.

It could be a mark on the plastic. Try to squese the plastic on both sides of a coin & move the coin by tilting the set so the coin moves. The plastic should be like a bubble. If the mark is not in the same place on the coin then its the plastic that has a scratch or some type of mark on it. As far as the dimple goes take it to a coin dealer you can trust and ask him.

The chances are the grease marks and finger print are on the packaging. The case it is in can however be opened. Not saying it could not have left the mint that way, but it is unlikely. As for a dimple, I have never heard of a dimple proof set. Best bet is take it to a coin dealer, or a local coin club with some old timers in it and ask them. Without seeing it we who are answering your question are limited in response.
