my daughter is 36 wks pregnant. At last appointment she wasnt dialated yet which was monday but the dr said that the baby was all the way down and ready and to come to hos. if water broke or labor began. Now for the last couple of days (about 5 days)she started to get alot of pressure as if the baby was pushing down and a backache. Today she said pressure is starting to hurt bad and back getting very uncomfortable. But dr said not to come or call until water breaks or contractions get bad. Is this a sign that its soon and any suggestions about how long til everything (labor) will start?
her braxin hicks are constant now but as of yet they havent gotten harder
dr told her she was fully effaced
Also she has already lost her mucus plug

If your daughter is fully effaced, she is definitely on her way to having that baby. It could be a matter of hours but I doubt it will be more than 48 hours. The pressure she is feeling is the beginning of her labor pains and is going to start opening her cervix so she can begin dilating. If she wants this baby out, walking or squatting would be good suggestions. Best of luck!

She could be getting close but if she thinks she needs to go to the hospital then she should go. Do you know that the fluid around my son was so low but i did not feel anything leaking out and if i hadn't of gone it is untelling what might have happned but i was also hurting every 5 minutes but i didn't believe i was in labor at 35 weeks which i was and i had my son without any problems. GOod luck

I would make sure my hospital bag is packed and waiting by the door and I wouldn't go on any long car rides.

Get your daughter to start taking some 30 minute walks - walking is a wonderful way to keep your blood flowing and it also helps with swelling and keeping calm.

From all that you have said I would say the birth is really near - I can't believe she hasn't already had her baby yet.

Good luck!

Have her walk a lot - and if she lost her plug it's just a matter of time. After I lost mine and had braxton hicks all day I was in labor shortly after. I had a c section planned it was wonderful to know she was ready though. Sounds like its any moment or in the next 48 hours. Condrads.

I had the same feeling with my third son and now Im 37 weeks with my 4th and feeling like that also.Ive got the constant BH contractions, and It really hurts alot because the baby is sooo low and the pressure and pain when she moves hurts and Im feeling so weak and tired right now.. With my 3rd, it happened within 2 weeks of my feeling like that. I had been 4cm dilated, and walked around like that for the 2 weeks.

That happen to me with my first baby, it will come soon. Have her walk alot to help make the contractions stronger or make the baby push down to break her water.
