since the tv you have has no built in hdtv tuner and is not capable of displaying a 1080i picture or even a 720p or 480p compatibility, the answer is no. the directv hdtv tuner utilizes an hdmi input cable, and it is through this cable that the high definition picture is the sharpest..

It all depends on what you mean by "will I be able to see HD on my TV".

The HD receiver will probably have several outputs that would mate up with your TV. If so, then HD channels would be viewable on your TV. However, since your TV is NOT HD, those channels would be converted down to 480i to be compatible with your TV.

So yes you would see HD channels but no they would not be in HD.

Now I see that this set is already 16:9. I don't know if the HD channels would end up being shown 16:9 or 4:3.

Hi there.

From the specs i read of the TV, it's can't accept High Def signals. You can look at the specs here:

Your High Def receiver might be able to convert the High Def format to a non High Def format suitable for your TV to display.
