Bad things could happen-- they could seize and one wheel would stop turning while you're driving (bad juju). They could just fall apart and your wheel could come off or tilt badly. If any major failure happens it could mean costly damage and possibly even an accident.

Get them fixed. They're cheap to repack if they're still good and cheap to replace if you need new ones.

well... it starts with a hum from the direction of the affected wheel, usually only at a certain speed, then the speedrange that produces the humming becomes larger, and the humming more pronounced, then you can actually feel it in the steeringwheel, which starts to vibrate and then move in your hands.

once the wheel actually moves in its bearing, it doesnt take much longer until the bearing breaks, or maybe some other part of the wheel/brake/suspension/steering compound, none of which is designed for that kind of stress.

what happens after that depends entirely on the speed your car is moving at, when it happens.

good luck :))

They seize. I had it happen to me once, and the sound is one you do not soon forget. Now I can tell when they are going. It starts like a hum and gets louder. Now when the hum starts, I am hounding my mechanic.

You'll tear up a hub or spindle, or the wheel couild fall off, then you'll end up with body damage or worse.
