If it is -3 minus 2x^3, that's -3 minus -2 which is -1

If it is -3 over 2x^3 then it's -3 over -2 or 1.5.

This is because you have to do exponents before multiplying, and (-1)^3 is still -1, so 2(-1)^3 is -2.

If you want the f(-1) you substitute the value -1 for x in the original equation. -1^3 is still -1. -1 x 2 = -2. You are now left with -3 minus -2 which becomes -3 +2 which equals -1.
