Essie Carmichael is such a GREAT role!

There is a play called "The Eight" - and it's about Santa's Reindeer being very upset because Santa has mistreated some of them - and I think (this is sick) there has been some sexual abuse going on. It's a comedy - but a little sick. BUT - there is a great monologue which is delivered by Dancer. Dancer is an actor with antlers and a tutu. Although the play has some material that would probably be inappropriate for an audition - Dancer's monologue is clean (from what I remember) and very cute! And she is a bit of an airhead. JUST LIKE ESSIE. In fact - as I'm typing this - I'm thinking maybe the character was modeled after Essie. Anyway - that would be a nice one. You'd get to do some dance moves - just like Essie - but you wouldn't be doing a monologue from the show. (I don't know that Essie really has a monologue)

You might also want to look at Babe from Crimes of the Heart. Her monologue about killing her husband is a little dark - but the play IS a comedy - so if you deliver it properly - it'll be fine. She's like Essie in that she really believes that everything is going to be fine and just the way it should be in the end.

Hope that helps! Break a leg!!
