Well, in our school at least, we are able to confiscate property from kids if:
- it's prohibited in school
- it's disrupting my class (in which case, very often I would take it and give it back at the end of class)
- it poses a danger to the student or others around them.
The people saying that we can't take personal property are dead wrong...sorry guys. We absolutely can if it meets one of those guidelines above. Anyway...what is it that you need a sim card for in school? Certainly not school work...I promise.

Only if it's a school rule that you NOT have them.
For example, at our school students may not have electronic devices in class. That just means they need to be off and put away before the bell rings. So, if I were to see a student with a sim card out, I would take it for the remainder of the period. The student could have it back afterwards.
Otherwise, teachers can't take your personal property.

No, they aren't allowed to take private property from you, unless it's a prohibited item on school property. Did you have it in your phone and before getting it confuscated you removed the card?
Why the hell didn't you tell the teacher to go to hell?
