this year is my last year of middle school. i went to a private school for 6th and 7th grade, but left and now i'm in a public school that's more focused on helping kids who fall behind than kids who excell. i'm very smart and i got accepted to the International Academy, which is a really really really good school! my home high school is the same as my school now- not many options for smart people. the IA is made for kids like me. i've just started making friends at my school now, and i really don't want to change. but i'm bored to death in my classes now. also, my really good friend that i've known since i was like 6 months old is going to the IA, and i would LOVE to spend more time with him. but i've just started making friends at home, and i dont want to leave again. the IA takes ppl from all over tho, so a lot of ppl would b looking for friends... im sorta afraid my guy friend won't b as interested in being friends again, and there won't b much a point in staying. help me?!?!?!?!?

this is an important question! i think the best way to answer these sorts of questions is to fast forward your life 5 or 10 years. where do you want to be then? a housewife, a ceo, an engineer, a painter? city, country, beach? house, apartment, rv? YOU are in control of where you end up. the decisions you make today and for the rest of your schooling will help point you to where you want to go.

as far as your friend dilemma goes: most people lose contact with their high school friends just a few years after graduation. i'm 23, and the only high school friends i talk to are classmates i accidentally ran into on myspace! you will change SO much in the next 5-10 years, along with all of your peers. do what's best for YOU. do what will get you closer to your final destination.

personal story: i would have graduated in the top 3 of my class if i had stayed in high school. the summer before my senior year, i reviewed my destination. i saw that high school was NOT going to get me to where i wanted to go. i dropped out and enrolled in a college. now, at 23 i'm semi-retired, own a web design company, lots of real estate, and am enjoying my winter in mexico. my choices pushed me here!

best of luck! always review where you're going, and if your actions are bringing you closer or pushing you away!

It sounds like your not being challenged in the school your in now, and that isn't good at all, but this IA thing sounds great! Not many people get an oppurtunity like that. I say go with it! You'll meet a bunch of people all over that are, just what you, just like you.
