Or do they keep quiet while both teams score baskets for the other team? I can't find anywhere where they have the right to speak up

After looking into this more I've figured out the OTHER team has to take the ball out after the ball is scored the ref (assuming he realized) would step in and give the ball to the team who just scored, hopefully making them realize their error

There would be violations and the basket would count for the team whose basket was scored at. The team that made the basket would get the ball and if they haven't figured it out by then, then shame on the coach. Now if on the jump ball the ball went to the team that was about to make the error, and they were in their backcourt, then when they went the other way the ref should call them for over and back.

However unlikely this scenario is, their respective benches would straighten them out.

I've yelled orders like a drill sarge from the stands once and had them instantly obeyed. You may think I just yelled the right thing but, believe me, after watching a team stand in formation for 30 seconds, It was my "MOVE!!!" they responded to 'cause their sorry coach was saying nothing. Bad squad, they deserved to lose.

as a player, you always know that you go the direction of the player is facing during the tip off. also another way to tell, is that you go opposite direction of how you warm up. I do not think a ref would say anything at a highschool level, but lower levels, i think they would

they say at the beginning which way to go. if a player screws up it is common courtisy to speak up. it is stuck up, rude, and plain mean to not telll them. but it must be after the basket is in imo.

usually when someone shoots in their opponent's basket the referee will point it out and the other team gets the point
