nahh it doesnt hurt when you get them on but they are sore for about 3-4 days after but than your fine..just eat soft food till they are not sore and bring a mirror to school so after lunch you can check if there is food in your teeth ;-) boys dont really care because everyone has them and its not a big deal at all so dont worry about it. for the color you should get light pink thats hot also clear and only white turns yellow clear doesnt i had clear the first time and it was hard to see them and they dont turn colors..but if you want to get light pink that is cute too..i would stay away from black yellow and white..grey blends in pretyy good too..=] hope i helped..

I got my braces junior year and still have them on (I'm a freshman in college). Boys can careless if u haver braces. I get different colors. Every time u have a braces appointment they will change the ties so u can pick which colors u want. I've had every color possible. When u get them on it doesn't really hurt because they paste it on to you teeth. It will hurt a little when they tighten it. At first my mouth felt sore but after a couple of days it got better, As time passes the less u will feel them.

It is uncomfortable until you get use to it, and uncomfortable a little when they get tightened. As for being painful everyone has a difference in pain tolerance. The band color, every month you should be seeing the orthodontist, you can change them out to match the holiday i.e. green and red for christmas, black and orange for halloween, or your school colors even. My daughter is 16 and a junior and has had braces since her freshman year, it hasn't curbed her getting calls from boys at all. Good luck and btw most guys like girls with confidence don't let them know it bothers you.

Nah, it's not that big of a turn off. I actually get and got compliments saying they made me look cute in that innocent way and once they were straight where you could imagine my mouth without them you get comments that your teeth are gorgeous and stuff like that so they aren't that bad in that sense. They might look funky to begin with depending on your reason for getting them but mine were all over the place and looked like my teeth were so jacked up but they straighten out unbelivably quick, it's the jaw alignment that takes forever. I'd go with the light pink for starters because pink is always cute for girls. It may seem like a big deal now because I know it was for me but after a few months it gets boring and you just pick whatever colors. Eventually you'll get a power chain which will be clear (and it does get a yellow color just a little but if you take good care of your teeth it isnt that bad). That chain is just one long band instead of individual bands so you can't pick colors unless they offer colored power chain. It hurt me when I got them on because the plastic things that hold your mouth open split my lips and when they tighten them you get headaches and your jaw hurts but after a few days to a week it's not quite as bad. They really don't hurt as bad all the time like some people make them out to except for sores in your mouth if wires poke out, those suck pretty bad. Also, you say you're supposed to get them off summer before junior year? I was supposed to get mine off back in July of 2006 and they keep delaying me so I wouldn't completely count on the due date they give you because things can go wrong. It's pretty disappointing when you're supposed to get them off and don't for months later so just enjoy the ride with your braces lol and enjoy the gorgeous teeth you'll have at the end. =]

Yeah it hurts a little but its not that bad and its not such a turn off for guys unless they can sense that you're less confident because of the braces. You should get clear though because it wont turn yellow unless you dont brush your teeth and pretty much any color you get will fade into a duller color and clear is much less noticeable. Good luck!

when you first get them on it will not hurt at all. but prepare for the next morning. it will hurt like hell !!! you won't be able to chew on foods for like a week. actually, some guys don't find it a turn-off. only the shallow ones do. as for colors, i think you should go with either teal or ruby on this thing :

im switching my rubber bands next week. im getting ruby.

just get some kind of color that you like.

to be honest, yes, getting them on hurts like heck. i ate mostly pudding, applesauce, and ice cream. some noodles, but that was tough. my teeth are really sensitive. the pain finally went away in 3 or 4 days, and until then, just make sure you have some kind of pain killer in your system.

there isn't really a particular color or colors that look good. i usually just get whatever colors i feel like getting..sometimes red and blue, blue and teal, blue and green..whatever. i'm a guy, though.

I had braces and they didn't hurt very much to get on. Most people in high school have them.
I recommend getting teal and pink or rainbow (red, yellow, green and blue)
