oh my gosh, we moved into a new construction home and the ants kept coming to OUR house from the lots being built around us... we sprayed "Ortho Home Defense Max" around the entire house at the base of the foundation and treated mounds with the powder pest killer. Both products are found at Home Depot or Lowes and the people in the garden section can always help.

We tried EVERYTHING but the ortho home defense max that comes with the sprayer is the ONLY thing that worked- it's been 2 years and NO ANTS or any other kind of bugs (minus a lone mosquito once)! :) aaaand our pets didn't get sick, so we're so happy!

You can purchase a product from Lowe's or Home Depot called Terro. You place the little stakes that have a poision inside. The ants carry it back to the colony and it kills all the ants. It has worked like a charm for me every spring.

Good luck!

First, find the source. Wherever there seems to be the "main horde" or where is appears they are coming from, spray with a cheap bug repellent. Enclose any food sources left laying around. Sweets are the main thing they are attrackted to so try putting pepper around where they are. Sounds crazy but it actually works.

Also try keep the work tops in your kitchen free from sugar or other sweet things, the floors to be swept they pick up all types of things to store
