My horse is an ArabianXPaint (Pintabian) and I was wondering if I could train her for saddleseat riding or is there a way to make her gaited?? Any info would be great!

I have exactly the same cross bred type of horse. Do to this cross-mix of breeding I highly doubt she will ever be "gaited." You can, however ride her saddleseat if you prefer in a three gait class. It really depends on her personal way of moving. My PaintXArab cross is very animated at the trot but has the build of a stock horse so therefore it makes her inappropriate for English Pleasure type classes. It really depends on the horses build and way of moving-I would have an experienced trainer take a look at her.

You can tell if she is gaited when she has something other than the walk trot and canter.

You have an Arabian and a Paint cross. Both of those breeds are non-gaited, so she will never be. Gaits are hereditary. There are ways to make a horse gaited, but none of them pleasant. I have seen "trainers" use (on a gaited horse that didn't show gaits well) manacles that tied their front and back foot together on each side and make them run. They need to be gaited or they would fall.

Alot of Arabs are good for saddle seat. You can't make them gate but with the rite collection you can have a real smoth, sharp looking horse.

No, You cannot make her gaited. She has to be born with that trait, it's inherited.
