My baby is now eating 3 solid meals a day, he doesn't really drink water, just breastfeeds on demand, should he be drinking water also? How many feeds should he be having a day now? I am now working 2 days a week so he's having expressed milk while i'm at work but i'm confused about how much he needs.

Your baby needs around 24 ounces a day. You should be breastfeeding him either before or after every meal. So if he's eating every 4 hours he should probably be breastfeeding or bottlefeeding 4 times a day at least. Breastmilk or formula should be the #1 food source for a baby until 1 year, with solids as well. Breastmilk/formula has more calories that the baby needs. His schedule should look somewhat like this:

Breakfast: breastfeed/solids
lunch: breastfeed/solids
snack: breastfeed
dinner: breastfeed/solids, or what I do is solids/juice then bottle at bedtime.

Hope that helps!

Mine was still nursing exclusivly at 6.5 mo... so he nursed like every 2-3 hours... every kid is different and has different needs. Nursing on demand is still the best option. I started offering my son a sippy with water when he started solids (closer to 8 months) but he just played with it for several months.

You may find that if you don't offer him the pumped milk,he will just make up for the missed session when you're home.

Baby can be breastfeed up to 7 months if your baby is eating solid food you can breastfeed twice daily morning/evening.Try adding water to juice until the baby will take plain water.try not to over feed the baby.
