ok....
coordinates...
the go in abc order
(x, y)
also in "logical" order...
you would look both ways (side to side) before crossing a road (up & down
(s/s, u/d)

SLOPE is how far up/down OVER how far side/side
This is also known as RISE (up) OVER RUN (to side)
teh absolute difference between the rises (-8 & -4) is a distance of 4 places....
the absolute difference betwee the runs (3 & -8) is -11 (backwards 11)
4/-11 is your slope...
for every 4 up, you go 11 back....
OR
for every 4 down, you go 11 forwards....

The equation for finding a slope is rise over run or y2-y1/ x2-x1.
So, (-4 - (-8))/ (-7 - 3) = (-4 + 8) / -10 = -4/10 which reduces to -2/5.

Remember the equation of a slope is (Y2-Y1)/(X2-X1) So it would be (-4-(-8))/(-7-3) = -4/10 = -2/5 I think that's right. Hope it helps

(X1 - Y1)/ (X2 - Y2) - the formula for finding slopes between two points

question was "(3,-8)(-7,-4) find the slope? "

(-8--4)/(3--7) = -.4 slope, or -2/5 slope

or you could have just have graphed them out and figured it out that way.

y1-y2 over x1-x2

In this case:

-4 - -8
over
-7 - 3

equals

4
over
-10

-4/10

Forgive me if I messed up the math somewhere. I think that's right. lol

To find the slope the formula is actually. You can answer it yourself, just plug it in.

y2-y1
--------
x2-x1

always use the formula rise (y) over run (x).
y2 - y1
over
x2 - x1
