Sand filter and pump was working great. There was a leak around one of the connections to the pump from the filter. After I fixed the leak the top of the sand filter is leaking water like crazy. I have tightened the screws on the lid to seal it tighter but still leaks. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Lets hope it just the gasket. Instead of using petroleum jelly you can buy from the pool shop a lubricant meant for wet areas.

If its the same thing that happened the my filter, you could be in big trouble. While you have the top off the filter take a close look around the neck of your filter and see if there is any hairline cracks. If there is a crack you might find its covered under a 10 year warranty like my filter.

I found out about the warranty by looking it up on the internet under the brand name of the filter.

The problem! is- First step. plug both lines going into your sand filter as so you don't loose your water from pool..
Remove the 6-8 screws from the top of your sand filter. Under the sand filter head is a rubber gasket.
remove Gasket and any sand between the gasket and gasket wall with cloth.
Inspect head of the sand filter for Cracks due to winter storage outside. expansion cracks the head if all the water was not drained for storage.
Install new gasket, Vaseline is good to use, its cheap. Put Teflon tape on your screws. Replace screws. your leak will be fixed!! any other problems anyone has with pool installation or Pool liner replacement email me. I know everything there is to know about pools and liner installations.
Cheers Terry.

Perhaps a gasket has gone bad. The rubber gaskets that they use tend to deteriorate over time. Or it can also be that some grains of sand are caught in the area where the seal is made causing water to escape.

When you replace the gasket, put a good coating of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) all over the gasket. That will help you to form a good air-tight seal.

I hope that helps a little.
