No, You should never run an air-conditioner inside without a window. Air-Conditioners sweat and drip and need the proper ventilation to work correctly. If it won't Fit in the window, you could prop it in front of the window, but there would still be the problem with dripping and condensation.

they make a portable air conditioner that you can move around the house but it has a condensation hose to put out the window. Home depot carries them along with sears.

You would essentially have a dehumidifier which would warm up the room. Half of the system must be outside so the heat can be extracted.
A lot of people don't like to block a window, so they cut a hole and mount them through the wall instead.

It needs ti be able to drain condensation that forms during the cooling process. You would eventually end up with water all over your floor.
They do make units made to be indoors with a drain hose you run to a drain or outside.
