I'd pick the Black Rose myself (and have in the past lol). But expect it to be a zoo, and likely with a long line. There's The Purple Shamrock on the other side of Fanuil Hall...I'm sure that, and everything else will be hopping too.

If you want less crowds there are a few Irish pubs in Allston/Brighton that will have live bands and be packed (but I'd assume not as nutz as in town on a weekend).

I personally wouldn't suggest Southie. It is still a very close knit "neighborhood" area where locals hang with locals. I personally don't think it's the place for someone who just wants to go party, maybe to an Irish band etc. Black Rose...now that is an open party (fun bar even not on St. Patty's day btw!).

Have a fun time where ever you go. And doubt any place is taking reservations...there will just be lines to wait in. Good luck!

Anything in Southie is crazy, thats the Irish neighborhood. If you've never been to boston on St. Patty's that might be too much for you. If you go during the night time, anything around Faneuil hall...Theres a lot of bar hopping and drunken mess in that area. TONS of fun!

Black Rose near Faniuel Hall would be the place. Lots of places around Faniuel Hall to go, considering the line at the Black Rose will be down the block.

If you're looking for an authentic irish pub, this is the place to be.

I don't know if they take reservations there, but I can guarantee it's going to be packed.
