For the buddha belly, a good cardio workout should help melt the extra pounds away. Choose the exercise wisely, it should be pain free (on your back) and enjoyable for yourself. Personally, I really like a nice frisk walk or elliptical machines.

For the back and abs muscles, i recommend the stability ball. It really good to target the right muscles. Like any exercise, ask a professional show you how to do it properly. Also, who doesn't like playing with a big round ball!!

I would suggest a stability exercise ball. I bought a kit that came with a dvd to show you all the moves. I LOVE it! Make sure you get the right size ball according to your height.
