They answer or ask many categories in a specific category. I guess when you have over 44K points, answer over 7000 questions and have over 2200 best answers, you're not a "top contributor"...

Because it means that they answer significantly to a specific category. If you hover over it, it will tell you which category.
Does anybody know the statistics of it? Like how many answers you have to make to be one?

you could make contributions plenty in one particular section. they are able to be TC in 3 diverse categories, regrettably P&S would not have one. A TC can lose their badge whilst they stop contributing to their respective sections.
