I went into premature labor with the first 3 of my 4 daughters.

With the second and third I spent a lot of time on bedrest. All were born naturally and healthy.

Sometimes you feel little uterine contractions. Mine started at 5 months of pregnancy. With each contraction the cervix begins to thin and dilation begins. You don't always feel this so plenty of rest, good nourishment and no stress, can really help.

my daughter was born 10 weeks early, after i had been on strict bedrest for 5 weeks! in this case my mucous plug was expelled at 25 weeks indicating my cervix had softened, my daughter although premmie, was healthy and actually came home from hospital 5 weeks before her due date! the labour itself started as 'normal'
