I just got married about a month ago, my husband makes decent money, but not enough for us to be able to buy whatever we want, but we still have fun. I was wondering whats some good carreer choices for a homemaker, cuz now that we are married I know if I work they will tax us up the wazoo, So i was thinking maybe just trying to find a job that has tips, I was a waitress but it was really stressfull is there anything else that i might be able to do that i would get tips or should i just try and find a job at the supermarket or something like that and suck up the whole tax thing?

Just do something part-time like retail. Put your main focus on taking care of your husband, the house, and when you have them, the children.

Good luck!

Actually the taxes wont be much different unless you get a really good paying job. Get a job doing something you love, or find one that has flexible hours, that way you can take time away when you need to and once you have kids you can work when they are at school and still be home when they leave and come home from school. The problem with a job waitressing is that most of the time, the taxes they take out are more then the tips you take in. If you like kids, try working in a daycare or see if the school needs teachers assistants.

So what do you think the Internal Revenue Service will do if they find out yoou worked at a job without getting paid and neither you nor the owner paid into social security or paid taxes? There is a legal term for that- it's called FRAUD.
If yoou work someplace and just pocket tips, you can be jailed and fined and they can take estimated lost wages out of hubby's pay too.
The "whole tax thing" pays for your water, your garbage, the cops who protect your streets, the fire dept that rescues you, the armed services that keep your town from being overrun with drugs and violence. So if you cheat the IRS and state, you are ultimately cheating all of us.
I know a woman who felt the same way as you. She worked as a house cleaner and pockets the cash. Now she's fifty and her husband left her. She lost the house because she couldn't get a loan cos she had no credit. She lived with various family members and still cleaned houses. She has no health insurance and then she got sick; she owes lots of money for that. Now she is thinking of future retirement and guess what? She never paid in to Social Security so she won't be able to support herself in retirement.
The best thing you can do is get some vocational counseling or maybe go to community college. You can't guarantee that now that you have landed a man that you'll keep him forever. Chances are 2 out of 3 that you'll be on your own, and most likely with a couple kids in tow. If you think waitressing is "stressful", try working three jobs with four kids to take care of!
Someday you'll have to be like the rest of us who get up every morning and ship our wazoos off to work, pay our taxes, save for our retirement and work for the roof over our heads. And we don't buy whatever we want OR go out a lot- we're trying to lay in a six month supply of cash so if we get caught in the next layoff, we can feed our kids. Use this time to make something out of yourself. Maybe your husband will respect you for it!

It depends on your talents, but if you're a good artist, try http://www.cafepress.com/?pid=2434108. I've put up a bunch of things on there, and I'm not exactly getting rich off it, but I make about $15 a month. If you put up 100 designs a day, who knows how much you could make. (In about four hours, I've done sixty designs before, so depending on how good of an artist you are and how complex your designs are, it's not automatically impossible.)

Whatever you want. Your marriage shouldn't affect your career decisions. I'm assuming you don't have children, which frees you up to pursue a full-time job that puts your mind to work. Believe me, a career will make you feel much more fulfilled.

I am a mail carrier, we make decent money, high stress too at times, but well worth it. Lots of wives work here, I am one. the big plus to me is not working at night.

Freight delivery is great because you can claim mileage and the profit loss sheet is great during tax time!

Wow! I have to pay taxes, why shouldn't you? And one more thing, SINGLE people pay more taxes, not married people.
