Me and my friends are having an argument, please help me out!
Judge not on which team you like more, but on what team you think is better.

"Boston's pitching is a mess"
All I can do is laugh at that comment. Boston is said to have one of the best starting rotations ever!
"Defence, yeah id have to say the mets have the slighter better"
The Red Sox had the best defense (fielding percentage wise) in the American League last year.
It's definetly Red Sox as the better team.

Well, the red sox swept the mets last year and this year the red sox are better and the mets are worse. When comparing how good teams are its best to stick within a specific league because the AL, as proven by interleague play, is a whole lot better than the NL and even if the Mets are the best team in the NL, they are not the best team in the majors (Mets MAYBE are in the top 5 mlb teams).

I dont like the Red Sox but I love the Mets. They are one of my top 5 favorite teams. And I'll say that they are better because they have a lot better chances of going further than the Red Sox.

Mets have a better lineup - Reyes, Lo Duca, Beltran, Delgado, Wright, Alou, Green, Valentin, pitcher
But the Red Sox have a better pitching staff - Schilling, Beckett, Matsuzaka, Papelbon, Wakefield
And for some reason I like the Mets bullpen, because the Red Sox don't have one lol...
In the end, I'll still take the Red Sox only due to the fact that they have that damn little league LF fence and they get to kill the Orioles and Devil Rays, while the only weak team in the NL East is the Nationals.

First of all, whoever is claiming that the Red Sox pitching is in the "dumps" is absolutely absurd. Schilling, Beckett, Dice-K, Papelbon, and Wakefield is the best starting five in baseball. It's the Mets who are in trouble...A 41 year old injury prone El Duque as your number 2? If that's the case, who's your 3,4,and 5?
Pitching wins championships. Advantage--Boston
Hitting: Mets have some great hitters. Wright, Reyes, Beltran, and Delgado. Sox can counter with Manny, Big Papi, JD Drew...Mets have to bat a pitcher...I say Push.
Bullpen: Mets have a bunch of nobody's, and then a great closer. Sox have great relief, but then no closer...Push
Fan Support: Fenway has sold out like 300 games in a row, and Red Sox nation is everywhere...Mets never sell out, and are second best in their own town...Advantage--Sox
Clutch Hitting: Ortiz is the best in the world...Beltran looks at meatball curves. Advantage: Sox
Defense: I'll say Push.

Well I am a Giants fan so I am not a fan of either team, but I would have to say that it looks like the Red Sox are going to be pretty good this year, but I am not sure. We will just have to wait and see.

It has to be the Red Sox. The Mets dont get anywhere in the post season! Now it is definitly the RED SOX because of the great players they signed.

This year the mets are. The Red Sox are in rebuilding, pitching is in the dumps, and manny and Ortiz are looking towards the end of the Boston Championship hangover.
This is why the Yannkees are the best team in baseball. Every year they manage to come back and make a bang in the season and postseason/
