Where I'm from, we hug most of our friends, whether girl or guy. And I hug all my Japanese friends who are girls......but I tried to hug the guys, and they act like they've never been hugged before lol. Like it's weird to them....

So I was wondering....In Japan do the girls who have guy friends hug their guy friends sometimes or usually not? Or do they really hug eachother at all over there with friends or what?
Or do girls even have guy friends over there? lol Cuz I heard that the girls usually stay together and the boys usually stay together......but here it's mixed.

Hugging is not commonly practiced unless between lovers. Girls quite rarely hug their guy friends. In big cities like Tokyo, more and more young people are getting used to hugging their friends of same sex but in rural area, it is not a part of Japanese culture. This is because traditionally touching other person is considered a rude attitude.
