How old do you have to be, to be on the show "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" I'm just curious.

Certainly older than a 5th grader, to be sure.

No, I'm sure you have to be at least 18.

I just started watching that show recently, and I am a little suspicious of it. You have to wonder if the 5th graders on that show were fed the answers before each show. And I also wonder if the kids are coached to sometimes throw an answer to trip up the contestant. For instance, on last night's show, the question "How many cups are in 5 and 1/2 gallons?" The little girl (who's helping the gay accountant contestant; I forget both their names) writes down 89. But the contestant already locked in his answer previously of 88. I mean, come on!!! Did the little girl really think it was going to be an odd number? I think it was set up so that if he chose to copy off her paper, the guy would be smart enough not to accept that answer.

Then again, as someone else pointed out here, I can't believe how incredibly dumb some of these contestants are! Some of the questions only require a little common sense! I guess when the producers and staff hold auditions, they want to find the dummies, so that it makes for more entertaining TV AND the fact that they don't have to pay out so much money! I mean, it's not like they have the budget that "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" has. Just my humble opinion...

Good question, the show made me so mad. First to see how stupid the some grown-ups are (no offense). Second of all, knowing that I can earn a million dollars but can't be on the show.

I think at least after you graduate from college or something.

I'm sure they want you to be past the fifth grade. My guess is that they're looking for people 18 and older.
