I am recently divorced from a 15 year marriage and have met an amazing man. We have so much fun together and everything seems to be falling into place for us. We have been seeing each other for about 8 months. He is ready to get married and I think I am too, however he filed for bankruptcy in 2003 and I am worried that this will set us up for failure. Will we be able to qualify for a house? Cars? Etc. I have excellent credit that I have worked hard for and I don't want to give that up. He is also 11 years older than me so I know that can be an issue also. But, he treats me like a queen and my 9 year old son loves him to death!! Help!!

Keep your credit seperate and maybe do some small things together so he can build his up...

since the bankruptcy is 4 years old, he has (at least in part) rebuilt his credit. it should not negatively affect your chances of getting a house, cars, etc. bankruptcy doesn't make him a bad person. maybe he had to file for reasons beyond his control.

do you love this man? is he good to you? yeah sure he has a bankruptcy thing but you know what that goes away in 3 years. dont let a little thing like a bankruptcy get in the way of true love. we all make mistakes, financial and emotional. dont punish him for this.
