In a word.......Yes! They are good enough this year to win the division. I think they will.

I think they totally have a shot. They won't finish in the cellar or anything as bad as last year. But they definetly did upgrade. They got Soriano, who hit 46 HRs last year. Rich Hill, a starting pitcher, also kicked it on in September last year. You just have to pray for one thing, and only God will bring it to you: HEALTH.

You NEED Prior and Wood to stay healthy. You need Aramis Ramirez and Derrek Lee to stay healthy.

If there's one upgrade the Cubbies do have, it's health.

Now, as for the division. The Reds are certainly improving in the Central, and have prooved they can compete. The Brewers also are improving. The Cardinals did pretty much nothing to make the World Champions better. Expect them to come in with a 3rd or 4th finish. The Astros: They will be the favorites this year, in my opinion. It's The Astros that you really are going to have to beat.

Other than that, I don't think you guys have a great shot for a wild card. The Rockies may stab it in a tight race in the NL West with the Dodgers. Remember, The Rockies have that gigantic trio: Helton, Atkins, Holliday. Helton isn't so mighty now, but that's one of the best trio's in the MLB.

So, in conclusion, I would like to see the Cubbies make the playoffs (I'm a Red Sox fan, fyi), but if it doesn't happen, don't ever lose the faith! *Wink* ;)

Lets see, 66 wins last year, so the Cubs add two starting pitchers who gave up 63 HR's in 375 innings in two of the bigger ballparks in baseball. Pitching in Wrigley(LOL) the souvenir collectors on Waveland Ave are going to love these guys. Good Luck, Cubs will be lucky to finish .500 .

I won't say that they are in for another 100 years of failure, but they need better pitching this year to get there. Than again, most thought that St. Louis would lose the division to Houston last year going into that last weekend, so anything can happen, especially in the N.L. Central.

They stopped being lovable once they started spending 300 mil on their payroll. Like the Red Sox they are a team that has worn out the old "poor pitiful me" act.

Yes, they have a chance of making the playoffs as long as everyone can stay healthy especially those pitchers i look for them to be the wild cards this year.
