I first started to take drugs for fun (and it was fun) at the age of 18, Then it was to escape from ever day life, the next stage was just to get out of bed, Now im 39 i dont use anymore but there is times i still crave , LIFE IS BETTER WITHOUT DRUGS.

I did alcohol because it made me feel wonderful. I was always tied up in a knot inside-felt different-lots of negative feelings and when I hasd that first drink it was as though life came into focus. I was hooked from my first drink. Progressed through the usual alcoholic stages-thrown out of college, arrested ,promiscuity, used and abused people, stole money. Two suicide attempts- but God had other ideas!Lied and cheated my way through life not because I was a bad person but because alcohol makes people mentally illl in the quantities I was drinking anyway. Valium to cure the shakes in the morning. Homebrew as strong as Carlsberg special. Had my rock bottom and entered a 12 step fellowship and have now been sober over 20 years. I could have stopped drinking whilst I was enjoying it but I didn't want to. At about 20 years old I crossed the invisible line where I went from being able to choose whether I would have another drink-to having to have that drink under any circumstances.
In answer to your question: I drank because I couldn't live with my painful feelings. Things are different now though.

People born with even regular, typical brains do drugs for the highs, the escape from reality (read: poor personal and socail skills), etc.
People whose chemistry is all messed up, and they don't know it, can turn to drugs as young as ten years old.
They really are self-medicating, they just don't know there's a problem.
Then there's all teh addicting LEGAL medications out there, and it's pretty hard to keep tabs on some of them and the peole taking them.
If we limit them but they are resourceful enouhg, they'll get more legal drugs. If not, they may seek out illegal drugs jsut to get the same fix.
The brain is very responsive, and let me tell you what-
THE DRUGS WOULD NOT WORK IF THE BODY DID NOT ALREADY HAVE RECEPTORS FOR THEM!

I don't do drugs actually, but I think most people at one time or another have dabbled a bit.

I think many people do drugs because of Peer pressure, then they get addicted then they get brain damage then they start asking daft questions, then the question become deranged.

I would give it up now while the going is good if I were you.

I tried drugs in my younger years (don't do it anymore of course) - and even then I always wondered that. It's a stupid, senseless, wasteful, dangerous thing to do. This includes smoking cigarettes and over using alcohol. How stupid.
It might have something to do with low self esteem and control, however. People give all kinds of excuses, but the bottom line is it's just stupid.

All the blame goes to the FDA. When will people realize what the FDA really is. The more sicko's out there, the more drugs they sell. The more drugs they sell, the more rich they become. It's all about the money.

many reaasons. one is that some times because your parents or grand parents need to take meds, you are curious try them, and get hookoed. also if friends try it especially a friend you like you try it. also, you want to see if what they say about it is true, so you want to find out for your self, then, you get hooked. It may seem that it helps you relax, etc, but what it does is rob you from your life which could be for years. my son did this and nowat the age of a eautiful 43 had a heart attack, one more drug and he was told he would die. its peer pressure along with the times. dont get hooked, life has a great plan for you, let no onerob you ofthis. my friend.

Why do we? Because we're bored. and we need something to do. Let me tell you about Joshua. My cousin. He used to do nothing but hang out all day with his buddies and smoke out. (glass mainly). And, one day I decided to give him an opportunity and hired him to work for Sol Azteca bus co. Its a company that I own. But, I knew that I needed to isolate him from his peers, so I made him work in the San Ysidro office where it is 3hrs away from home. That means he has to stay there all week and weekends too. He doesnt have time to visit his home anymore. Because now he is working all day and it requires his full attention. He is an important person at his job. He runs the little office at work and has a key and does the end of day accounting for his job. He is even in charge of a 2nd worker whom doesnt speak english that well. Let me tell you that He is the happiest person ever and doesnt think about getting high anymore. Because he feels important. And dont we all want to feel important.

If you feel you need an opportunity like him to get better please feel free to email me.

Because people want to escape their problems
I think people watch TV for the same reasons sometimes
But life is still there when you get back, it doesn't get any better by ignoring it
