So, I am going to see the musical Hair at my college tonight. I saw the movie, and even though I have bad memories of this movie and it's songs (my dad always put it on when he was drunk when I was a kid), I love this story, what do think about it? Have you seen it? Do you like it? Favorite part?

I think you'll enjoy the musical more than you did the movie. They edited the movie and, in my opinion, ruined the musical.

I've seen the play twice - but never seen the movie. The actors didn't come out nude in either version that I saw. Both of them were in smaller houses - and it just wasn't appropriate. There was a talk back after one of the productions I saw - and somebody asked the director why he'd cut the nudity. And he said something like "Well - the way this theatre is set up - the actors are just a few feet from the audience. The nudity in the original production on Broadway - was there to represent freedom and liberation. Somebody's genitals just a few feet from your face is not a representation of freedom and liberation - it's just gross." I've always remembered that for some reason.

Anyway - my favorite part of the show Aquarius/Let the Sun Shine In." Love that!!

The play and the movie are actually very different. The movie was made later, after it'd been performed for quite a while, and they moved the plot around and dropped some songs to make it a better fit as a film.

The story is good. The play is much better than the movie and the songs, despite your bad memories, are classics. Enjoy.

I recently stage-managed a production of Hair in Paris. It had been a long time prior to that since I'd given it much thought, but I was very pleased to find the show very moving and exciting.

i saw the musical once.... i was a bit flabbergasted when they all came out naked in one part. i couldn't stop looking at the really fat guy - i totally missed everyone else. but it was pretty good, nonetheless.
