Modernly, that the great experiment in "democracy" can all be rapidly undermined by having in office a witless psychopath, and a clueless troglodyte with a mechanical heart? :))

The Revolution taught Americans that the greatest military power (King Henry) could not win a war in a far away land (Boston) across the ocean, even against a very weak insurgency (Patrick Henry & friends).
The drafting taught us nothing apparently, considering it is officially no longer revered.
