Since the car is new they don't have a license plate until registered. If its used they throw it away so people dont use the license plate number for bad purposes. plus in tv comercials with real cars they do it so the person has privacy and is protected from car evil doers.

To make you think that the commercial was filmed in "Anywhere, USA" so it doesn't matter what state you're in. Also, to keep the attention on the car, not on "Hey! That's a California license plate!"

I think because the cars are not owned by anyone. Therefore, there is no real licensed plates needed.

because it is a commercial they want the car to look as good as possible to make people buy it and what do you think looks better... a car with a normal plate or one without?

It's basically to prevent the number from being traced and used by people trying to cause pointless trouble. It also allows the same advertisement to be used world wide rather than only in the country the plate applies to.

I'm pretty sure cars don't even have a licence plate in commercials

Its so the ad can be used in different states. Some times they don't even have plates.

I believe it is because they do not want people tracking it down or they really do not have a license plate.

the same reason you will see license plates blurred out in some shows. They don't want you tracking it down
