About 10 years before I got this job, I was asked by an Instructor in a Job program, what I wanted to be doing (employment wise) in 10 years. I told her I wanted to be doing HER job! We laughed but I always thought her job was much more fun than work could be, and very satisfying. Circumstances (not very pretty ones at the time) transpired to find me in need of public assistance and I ended up in that class. The current Instructor was obviously not cut out to do the job and I mentioned it to the Employment and Training Worker assigned to that particular Job Services program. I told her I could do that job and visualized myself doing it. That Instructor didn't last another month, the job was advertised and I got it! I think a combination of things were at work here; desire, visualization, some planning, life experience in that particular program, ability and more visualization. Eight years later, I still feel I am a great fit for this job! My motto is "If you find a job you love, you never have to work a day!"

Both. I originally had a specific plan because I was visually handicapped and wanted to make sure I wouldn't end up a charity case. Then, at 17, my situation changed and with one miraculously surgery I could see as well as anyone (well, with one eye anyway) and I decided I'd rather live life as it came to me than by some conservative plan. So, here I am, two failed marriages and many experiences--both good and bad--later, still glad I decided on the adventurous route!

no, i planned nothing. I had no time. When I was hungry I worked in a resturant, clothes, I worked in a department store, etc and so on. Life gave me many opportunitites thru
needing different types of jobs to survive. When I once finially decided to open an expecise studio, all the past jobs were most helpful in my business. I now leave everything of my lifes days up to God, he knows best.

I applied for several & took the first offer. Turned out to be a job I loved for about 20 yrs. The last 12 yrs were hell, though, and I felt financially trapped because I didn't have a college degree and my options were limited.

I fell into catering, after trying care work. I have worked hard at being a chef but sometimes think I'd make a better gardener or photographer.I'm 34 so perhaps not too late to change.

I fell into mine thanks to a summer temping job whilst I was a student - it looked good on my CV when I graduated so ended up with a similar permanent role.
