RAM is random access memory. it is used for applications that are currently open by loading it into the RAM. RAM is much faster than the hard drive, but the problem with having your entire computer being run on ram is because once the computer is shut off, all data stored on the RAM is lost.

if you press control+alt+delete, and goto processes you can see what is using your ram. goto yahoo and search the name of the of the process to see what program the proces is associated with. If its something you dont need, uninstall the program.

however, deleting programs that are NOT running on the computer will no make your game run faster(unless your hard drive is full), most hard drives dont take a performance impact until the hard drive is 66% full, but even then it is still not noticeable.

for swat 4, you will want at least 512 megabytes of ram and recommended requirement is prolly around 1 gig. 512 ram is not expensive (55$).

whenever you run a program it gets stored on the ram until the program is shut off. so when you go to play swat, turn off all your programs.

also if you have a video card, update your drivers www.nvidia.com
www.ati.com

if you have onboard video acceleration (intel) - your basically screwed. you will have to check to see if your motherboard can support a video card, either pci-express or vga, and then buy one (70$ for a t least a 128 mb card)

First-you DO NOT delete programs; you uninstall them. (Start, Control Panel, Add/Remove programs). Deleting a program will also remove any shared files associated with it, which can cause other programs which need those shared files to run poorly/not at all. (One of my pet peeves-I can't count how many times I've had to re-install Windows because someone DELETED programs). Odds are that it will not help you in online games, depending upon what you uninstall-most programs that run in the background are ones that you NEED to have running, like antivirus programs or firewalls. You may not think that you need antivirus running, but you might be surprised how sophisticated hackers have become-you could get a script run through an IM session of the online game. Your best bet to free up RAM is to run, believe it or not, an anti-spyware program, and to get rid of things like the Google toolbar. Go to download.com, search for AdAware and for Spybot; both are free programs, and will remove all of the LITTLE memory eaters that you are not even aware of, and not so co-incidentally, making your system run faster, smoother and more stable.

Deleting programs only frees up hard disk space, if you need more RAM, than you have to purchase the RAM and install it on the system. You can free up ram by shutting off programs that you do not need to be running such as chat programs and such. Also freeing hard disk space or RAM will not give you a better internet connection, for that you may need to get a new ISP.

It depends if these programs are using memory by running in the background. A lot of programs run in the background so they can be accessed faster when you need them. It could possibly free up your RAM but the change in your online gaming would be minimal. You just need to get a better connection.

it wont give u more RAM itself, but it will free up the RAM that was being used by the programs, depending on what ones u deleted it should make the computer run a little faster, if the programs were running in the background of the computer when it is on, but you dont see them actually running and they will slow up a computer, but removing them or making them stop running will make it run a lot faster., you can see all the programs running if u open up the task manager by hitting ctrl, alt, delete then going to either applications or Processes.

no.
for online games you need a broadband connection which you can get through your internet service provider. It enables a higher flow of data which means your computer wont lag when you play online games.
If you want more ram by the way press cntrl alt del and then from processes tab end the processes you dont need. i.e. your printer processes and such.

Ram is cheap.. you can buy more ram if that is what you want... but as said i believe your roblem is in the connection speed.. not ram

If you delete your programs that will only give you more HDD if they are not background runing processes

If you delete a program it will not give you more ram. However what you can do is stop a program from starting automatically when you log onto windows (bottom right corner) This will free up some of your ram.

Deleteing programs will not give you extra RAM, it will free up your hard drive. If you want more RAM then you need to add more and stop the programs from your start up, that will help speed up your computer.

If those programs are normally started up at boot, then you will free up some RAM, however, i doubt that if you can't play those games now, removing some programs, and freeing some KBs of RAM will help much.

No, it will not help. But if you shut down some of the unwanted process running and stop the services running on your computer using MsConfig in the cmd prompt then your speed will increase alittle bit. Another way is to use some virtual memory but make sure it balance out with your original memory.
