ok so everything was normal no warning lights were on. So i decided to do the tune up on my car you know basic oil change sparkplugs and air filter. after i was done i took it for a test drive and out of no where the check engine light turned on any ideas? did i move something? let me know thanx

It fuctions related to the vaccum of the engine at various speeds, so a couple of possibilities. 1: Gas Cap 2: PCV valve, and 3 the Oxygen Sensor....

Triple check all the sensors and hoses that connect to the air intake. Maybe take all the ones you can reach off, blow them out, and put them back on. Trace the route your arm took to get to the spark plugs. Make sure nothing is loose along that path. If that doesn't work, remove the negative battery cable for about five minutes. This clears the car's computer. Replace the cable and drive the car for a while. If the light doesn't come back on then your only problem is re-programming your stereo presets. If it does, take it to a major auto parts shop. Most of them check that for free now. I know Autozone does and gives a pretty comprehensive readout.

my check engine light would come on if my gas cap wasn't on tight. You could go to a local auto parts place (Auto Zone, Advanced) and the can put it on the computer to see what it is.
