The right way.
Here's a link that explains it step by step.
Just practice it. It's not that hard. I recommend asking your friends to park in front and behind you, so that if you hit anyone, they won't be too mad.

Pull your car even with the car in front (after making sure ther's adequate space for your car, of course). Then slowly back your car until the front wheel is about even with the back wheel of the parked car. Turn your steering wheel to the right (if you're parking on the right side of the street), back into the spot, while turning the wheel back to the straight ahead position slowly until you've cleared the front car. Then turn the wheel to the left, while continuing to back up. Then pull forward, straightening the wheel as you go. Do not hit the curb, or the cars either in front of or behind you (that's an automatic failure on the driving test!). Park the car less than eighteen inches from the curb and turn your wheels in the direction of the curb (uphill turn them towards the right and downhill to the left). You've just parked the car, legally and safely; congratulations!

This assuming there's a car in front of the spot you want to use.
1. Get the nose of your car even with the side mirror of the car parked in front of the space you're aiming for.
2. Turn your wheel all the way to the right.
3. Let off the brake while watching behind you.
4. JUST before you hit the curb with your rear wheels, turn your wheel all the way to the left. Let off the brake while watching behind you. Watch your nose doesn't hit the back of the car in front of you, but it shouldn't.
5. Once your car is straight-ish but still pointing a bit out into the road, turn the wheel straight but a bit to the right and nose up to the back of the car in front of you.
That should be it!
FYI, if the bottom of your rear bumper can clear the top of the curb, there's nothing wrong with lightly tapping the curb with your rear tire so that you know where it is and then pulling up a bit before turning the wheel to the right.

Drive your car past the spot you want to park in, so that the middle of your vehicle lines up the bumper of the car in front of the spot you want. Cut your wheel all the way to the right, back up until your front bumper is in line with the car in front of you's rear bumper and then turn your wheel all the way to the left. Continue backing up, careful not to hit the car behind you. Use your drivers side mirror to tell when you are in line with the car behind you. Adjust your car forward or backward to be centered in the spot.

Pull ahead of the space, back into it at appropriate angle, straighten up in line with the other cars.
Its incredibly simple if you practice and learn your car. Grab some cones and go to town in an empty parking lot!
