Fear. Our fears are constantly being exploited. As a result, we are manipulated to think inside the box. If we start to think originally we could become easy targets for rejection, humiliation and ridicule.

Religion is a useful tool for social control, and its message is tolerance and respect. Unfortunately, like all things, humans corrupt and misinterpret this message. Without some way of guidance, it would be difficult to teach people why you shouldn't say, hit someone or hate somebody.
It's impossible for everyone to think positive things and be positive.

It's impossible to always be positive, sadly. The influences today's world places in our minds is out of control. A lot of religious people are so judgemental, arrogant, and close-minded. It amazes me how people have given religion a bad name..I don't understand it. It wasn't meant to be this way.

I understand where you're coming from.
Understand that when people find religion, they feel that they find guidance and inspiration, so they choose to believe the things that they feel are good for them, personally. It's not like they were born into a religion, and that was all they knew.

yes religion makes you think inside of the box, but God always stretches you out. Try seeking God, and not religion. You'll find out that Jesus did everything the religious people thought He shouldn't.

They can only box you in if you let them. Think for yourself and you will be happier.

Like "Love your neighbor as yourself"??? Oh wait, that's a Christian concept.
How about "Turn the other cheek" No...
Or "Thou shalt not kill". Hmm....
Man, religion really has some NEGATIVE ideas, doesn't it????
