Ask your health care provider how much weight you should gain during pregnancy. A woman of average weight before pregnancy should gain 25 to 35 pounds during pregnancy. Underweight women should gain 28-40 pounds during pregnancy. Overweight women may need to gain only 15-25 pounds during pregnancy. You may need to gain more or less weight, depending on what your health care provider recommends.
In general, you should gain about 2 to 4 pounds during your first three months of pregnancy and 1 pound a week for the remainder of your pregnancy. If you are expecting twins you should gain 35 to 45 pounds during your pregnancy. This would be an average of 1 ½ pounds per week after the usual weight gain in the first three months.
Good luck

I gained 70 pounds while I was pregnant. I was a bit underweight before I got pregnant so my recommended gain was like 30-35 pounds. I was like you, in that I pretty much ate whatever I wanted before I got pregnant and never really had to worry about it. Well, I made sure that I ate very healthy while I was pregnant and was not eating constantly, but still gained a lot. (I swear, I only had ice cream once in awhile!!) I also walked and lifted light weights every day. While I was pregnant, I was all belly, and people would be shocked to find out how much I was gaining. My doctor told me that as long as I was eating healthily, and not going crazy on the junk food, that my body would probably just gain what it needed to gain. My baby was also very large, but I think he just wanted a nice cushy place to sleep.
Of course, after having the baby, the weight that was all belly somehow managed to migrate to all parts of my body, and I'm having difficulty shedding those last 15 pounds. So, I would encourage you to make sure that you are eating a healthy diet and watching out for the junk food. 15 pounds is kind of a lot to gain in the first 2 months (I didn't start gaining any till 3 months), so you should discuss it with your doctor. Sometimes too much weight gain can be a sign of gestational diabetes. But most of the time, if you gain over the recommended weight, it will just be harder for you to lose when you have the baby. Good luck with the pregnancy!

Just because you are pregnant doesn't mean you're supposed to gain weight. Until you are 7 months, you should gain a few pounds a month, and after the 7 month mark, you will naturally gain weight. This is the time the baby grows the most (weight -wise). The best weight gain for a pregnant woman is 20-35 pounds. Eat healthy foods and only eat when you're hungry. People look for reasons to gain weight- because they're pregnant-
If it's an issue you're really concerned about, talk to your doctor!
good luck!

My dr. said I should gain anywhere from 30-40lbs for me and the baby to be healthy. With my first preg. I gained 50 lbs and with my second I gained 70. Me and the baby were both fine and I lost every pound after the baby was out. I didnt even have to diet I just breastfed. I always weighed 135 also and I weighed 205 when I delivered my daughter. The only prob. is the more you gain the worse you feel. When a woman who weighed 135 9mo. ago weighes 205 it is hard to get around. Personally I wouldnt worry so much about the weight. Good Luck

Average is 25-35 pounds. In saying that, I have gained 37 pounds and am due in 3 days, my sisters gained about 45 pounds. I gained a lot in my first trimester, next to nothing in my 2nd trimester, and alot in my third trimester. Don't focus on the weight gain at all. You are pregnant. Just focus on eating a well balanced diet as this is what is important for the baby. If you eat well, you put a type of weight that is easier to use than if you eat a lot of sugary, fat calories. Just make wise food choices and you'll be fine!!

I gained a lot of weight with one child. It seemed that no matter what I did I gained weight. In all I gained over 42 lbs. (I stopped looking at the scale!) With my second child I only gained 20 lbs. Go figure. You can't do anything about the 15 lbs now. Going forward, monitor your eating and just eat healthy balanced meals. Don't splurge every day on ice cream, cakes or whatever is your personal weakness. (But every once in a while you should indulge!) You will be fine and have a beautiful and healthy baby!

I gained 15 pounds right away like you did but after the next couple of weeks it kind of leveled off. I don't think that I was eating out of control but I had just got back from basic training which was tons of exercise to not being able to do too much so I think that was up with me, or at least hoping. Anyways, everyone's different, you might just level off like I did for the next few weeks and could just be holding water weight. Your doctor will talk to you about it after a while or if they are concerned. But don't worry about being fat, a pregnant belly can look cute ;)

The range for someone who is at their ideal weight is to gain 25 - 35 pounds. If you are underweight, then you should gain more and if you are overweight, then you should gain less.
The site I put in the source section can help you get an idea of what you should be gaining, but really talk to your doctor.

Well they say that a healthy pregnancy, you shuold gain from 24-30lbs. But I've had three children, with my first child I gained 50, lost all it, then with #2 I gained 35, lost it , then with #3 I gained 30, then lost it within 1 month. So it really just depends on you and your baby, if your under weight then you should probably gain more than is recommended, and if your over weight than you should probably gain less than is recommended.

It really depends on your height and weight to start with. Generally speaking though I think that you can expect to gain anywhere from 35-60lbs overall. It's going to happen and needs to happen for the health of the baby you are carrying. My advice though, if you know you are eating bad stuff ie)McDonalds, ice cream, soda, double helpings of everything, just use moderation try to eat more healthy things like fruits and veggies and meat....don't forget to have a good source of protein for that growing baby. As for the weight, if you are eating healthy and are still gaining more than the reccomended weight have your doctor run a thyroid test and check for signs of gestational diabetes or pre-ecclampsia. Hope that helps! Blessings on the baby! =)
