I don't get it cas if water was there before language than why did it have to be known as wet???

Water is wet because all liquids are wet, so automatically, water is wet. If when they were making up languages and said water will be known as dry, then you'd probably be asking why water is dry right about now.It's just the way that things are.

Because water has a low viscosity, it breaks away from itself easily, leaving a film behind... the wetness.
More viscous fluids, eg Mercury, sticks to itself and leaves no film... and therefore no wet feeling.
