To wear on the train, I don't need the $300 Bose ones, just one that will reduce the noise enough to listen to an audiobook. Im thinking under $50. Again dont need the fancy ones, I may fall asleep and miss my stop.

You may choose from these because they are best marked for sound percision; here are few: Snoy, Aiwa, Philips Genius (if you want one from computer manufacture brand). Moreover prices for these are not more than $20 to $40 according to brand name. The Genius headphone even you can get it as low as $15.
