You really should call the nurse advice line. If he's had a cold for three weeks, it could be something like a virus that he'll need help getting rid of. He may be teething, which can take months. He may have allergies. Either way, you'll want to call the nurse line to get the standards for dosage based on your child's height and weight. Good luck.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GIVE YOUR CHILD ANY COLD REMEDIES THAT WERE NOT SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR A CHILD.

If your son has had a cold for 3 weeks...its possible that he doesn't have a cold at all..he may have progressed to pnumonia or bronchialitis...my friend is going through that right now...You'll need a doctor visit and antibiotics if that's the case.

Colds generally go away in 7 to 10 days ...if it's held on longer than that ...then you're probably looking at some kind of respiratory infection.

If your symtoms are that bad and he's that uncomfortable...I'd go to the ER...it's idiotic to jeopordize the child because the doctor isn't open til monday.

If you want to soothe his symtoms until you get him to the doctor...you can do the following.

Little Remedies Brand is safe and gentle and effective...they are available online as well as any Babies R us, Toys R Us, Target or Rite Aid.

And this:
What can I do to help my child’s cold?
There are approximately 200 viruses that cause colds. The most common cold symptoms are:
Runny or stuffy nose
Cough
Sore throat
Sneezing
Fever
A decrease in appetite; decrease in energy level; as well as fussiness may also be signs of a cold.

Unfortunately, there’s no cure for colds, however you can provide temporary relief from cold symptoms while the virus runs its course.

Helpful Hints:
Make sure your baby drinks plenty of fluids. This will help make coughs more productive by loosening phlegm
Use a cool mist humidifier in your baby’s room to put moisture in the air to help your baby’s stuffy nose and dry scratchy throat.
NOTE: Vaporizers vs. Humidifiers
Both vaporizers and humidifiers accomplish the same goal - to put moisture into the air. Cool mist humidifiers put moisture into the air by using a motor that converts the water to a fine mist. A vaporizer produces moisture by boiling the water with a heating element converting the water to steam. In general, cool-mist humidifiers are recommended over vaporizers

He is too young for cold medicine. It's hard as a parent, but you have to let the cold run it's course. Three weeks is a long time though, your peditrician can recommend an antibiotic. Besides that, baby tylenol for the aches and to bring down a fever and lots and lots of kisses and hugs. God bless.

Baby tylenol...the dose is on the box but if he has had it for 3 weeks then you should really take him to the Doctor. There may be other health issues. Good luck and I hope it is just a cold.

When my son was a newborn, he was born via emergency c-section and was very stuffy for months. He was able to take Little Noses brand nose drops and they worked well. Also, try the infant vapor rub. I would put some on his back and some on my hand so I could keep it closer to his face at first.

Tylenol Cold. The smallest dose on the dropper. Also try Little Noses saline spray. Baby Dimetapp, it's behind the counter, ask your pharmacist. He can also have adult Robitussin in his bottle, but I don't remember the dose. Call your pharmacist, they will tell you. Easier to get a hold of than the doctor.

my daughter had a cold but my pediatrician said the cold medicines do more harm than good get a saline drop to break up the mucus and suction it out of his nose with a nasal aspirator and put a humidifier in his room so that he doesnt get a dry throat and crunchy snot also you can put a little vapo rub for babies on his chest so help keep the mucus away i did it for my baby and it helped alot

yes, you can give him ...hold on gotta get the bottle, "tylenol concentrated Infants cold& cough drops" At that age we gave my son hold on I got it written down here....0.8ml every 4 hours. he weighed about 14 pounds then (so if you are within 5 pounds either direction you should be okay. )and at 6 moths for future ref. 1.2ml every 4 hours and at 9 months 1.6ml

And, we used a snot sucker on him. And our ped. taught us a trick to it. Get an eye dropper, mix 2tbsp luke warm water with a pinch of salt in a bowl. Lay him/her on the floor, Lay their arms out. Lightly hold their arms & legs down with your legs. This part you have to do fast ready? ????
Okay, grab eye dropper drop one drop of mixture into nostril suck up with booger sucker immediately. It loosens up the goo and gets it out better. Gross, but effective. =)

YOU MUST see the doctor on that. 3 weeks is too long and he is too young for regular meds.
He may need antibiotic. Or the dr may have you use Tryamenic patches. (like vicks vapor rub)
