My dear girl, try to calm down, relax with your baby, I only read a 'green card' which the hospital gave me when I left to bring my daughter home, it was so frightening, that I never read another thing about babies.
You are the mother, so long as your baby is feeding, passing water and solids at the other end, everything should be OK. Sometimes it is easier to ask a more experience mum or health visitor, or nurse than to read all the books .
Babies are individual, they are not produce in a factory, they should be treated individually. Enjoy your baby but don't be afraid to ask others for help, there is no typical baby, I have had four and each one was totally different, and still are.
Congratulations on the birth of you baby by the way.
A baby needs to be fed, clean and loved in his/her first few months, a mother needs to enjoy this time and be relaxed, this way you will learn to know your baby, he/she will tell you when he/she is unwell.
Contact me if you need any advice,

Just go by your own judgment. Children are not hard to raise the only thing you have to do as a new mum is use very good judgment. If kids came with instructions that would be very easy but they don't. Take time to get to know your child. Always keep the line communication open never close it no matter how mad your child make you. When they are infants you will know what is wrong by there cry. Don't stress yourself out because then you wont be any good to yourself or your child just take it easy and go with the flow of things and enjoy being a mum because that is the most wonderful feeling there is. Good luck

You are right - it is very confusing. I always used to ask my mum if I needed advice because my midwife was very text book. They did give me a book which went from pregnancy right up until the baby is 5 years old and I found that really useful.

Hi ya ,yes it can be confussing, with my first child i tryed to do everything by the book, but you know your child and their needs and what they like. You soon learn not to take too much notice of everything you read, otherwise you spead more time worrying. good luck.

I am right there with you. I always go with what I think is right or good for my little girl. The only advice and information I listen to are from my mom, grandmother, and my little girl's doctor. Too much info is very overwhelming.

You just have to follow your heart and insticts. Thats what theyre there for.
I have done alot of research on babies and pregnancy. Its just my natural curiosity. But, I tend to follow my insticts. I am a pretty natural person (yes i use make-up and yes i shave my pits.. im not that natural!) and thats the way i tend to go with everything.
It helps to know yourself and have an overall goal to help you make desisions. Everyone is different.

I know what you mean! Listen to a variety of info on what you want to know, and then do what feels right - don't feel bad if you don't do what someone else does, there are so many opinions and fads out there! Switch your sensible filter on and ignore the crap :)

Yes and thats why you cannot listen to what everyone says. You do what is right for you. Of course you should listen to the medical aspects of it, like colds, flus and that type stuff. But when it comes to, should I give them a pacifier, should I breastfeed, should I lay them on their tummys to sleep, you know that kinda stuff...Just do what works for you and do what your doctor tells you.
