if its punk your playin....then you should know that instruments or even muiscal knowledge are not important. if your even a punk your gonna be pissed off the whole time thrashin around tryin to get amped at the man. while doing this your probably gonna smash your bass into whatever comes itto its path. this might be an animal, it could be a water heater....it could even be your bandmates face. in any case, buy the cheapest bass guitar you can find. it doenst even matter if it has all the strings on it o rnot cause most punk songs use only the first string anyways. look at sid vicious....that guy was in the most popular punk band of all times and he never really played any notes at all.

The best bass is the one that you like the most. Go to a guitar store and try out some bass and amp combos. The amp will have a lot to do with the sound. Fender Precision is a good one, but it's really personal preference on how it feels and sounds and how much you want to spend.

in case you're searching for that appropriate bass, the superb suggestion is to circulate on your interior sight music shops and take it sluggish and play all of them. there'll be one which will sense appropriate, seem appropriate, and have that appropriate sound. this is the only you opt to purchase. Fender is the bass chosen by technique of the familiar public of bass gamers as being the superb. Carvin, Ibanez, Musicman, and Yamaha around out the superb suited 5.

Fender Precision is the standard. However, it is a big, heavy thing with a thick neck. If you have small hands or a slight stature it might not be the best for you. Fender makes some smaller models that I would try if I didn't like my "P" so much!
