my clown pleco isn't eating algae off the glass...is it just my pleco or is it common? thanks

Definatly not algea eaters. They do graze on it occasionally, but the clowns prefer wood and veggies in there diet. There are only a handfull of good algea eating plecos, and clowns aren't one of them.

This is normal. Although plecos are called "cleaning fish", they don't really clean. They might suck on the glass a little, but if you have algae on the glass, the only thing that will effectively clean it is an algae scraper or an algae sponge.

FYI, clown plecos are wood eaters, so make sure you have a nice hunk of driftwood in there for him.

no its normal i have three in my pleco tank and they hide during the day and dont do much but turn off the light and they become active they love algae pellets and shirmp pellets i have never seen mine susking on the side of the tank

Get him the algae wafers he will love them.
Also your pleco may not have "found" the algae on the glass yet. He may not know it's there.
Get the wafers, you can't go wrong.
