Because men in situations where they can see each other peeing have no concept of subtlety. There are two extremes - either you look NOWHERE, do your thing and get the hell out, or - imagine the situation - if you had a gang of guys who were friendly peeing together after a couple of beers: you KNOW they're gonna be playing "fireman" or even "Ghostbusters" - "No, man, don't cross the streams!!"
It's just too hideous to contemplate, so we go one by one.

Evolutionarily speaking, men were always stronger and could handle peeing without other hunters being around. Cave women, on the other hand needed the protection that groups afforded. We still do it for protection, but we just dont' know why.

I don't think guys have any need to go to the bathroom in groups. Besides, even though us women go in groups, we have stalls, so we have privacy to do our business. Guys don't really have that luxury, with urinals and all.
