He is without a doubt the worst recruiter in the SEC. His players lack focus (as they showed in their loss to MSU today) and are complacent at times. That's a sign of horrible coaching.
You know things are rotten in Lexington when bluegrass natives are calling for their once beloved Tubby's head.

Don't be ignorant. Tubby Smith has had one good season (two years ago) since he rode the coattails of Rick Pitino to a national championship.

Alot of people have been saying Smith isn't a good recruiter for years now, but it's never been more evident than the last two years.
They turned down Chris Lofton of Tennessee and Brewer of Florida, both of whom scorched them this season.

EVERY college coach is having to deal with players leaving early. Look at Roy Smith, he lost nearly his entire National Championship team.
It's not the talent of Tubby's recruiting that I question, it's the character of the players he is recruiting. When he first came to UK, he wasn't 100% in charge of recruiting, and magically players like Teyshaun Prince, Keith Bogans and Chuck Hayes, players who may have not been the most recruited, but had outstanding work ethic and character, showed up in Big Blue. The only player who will go down in Kentucky lore over the last three seasons is Patrick Sparks, who was a walk on! Something has changed about Tubby Smith. His players lack passion, they lack work ethic, and they just aren't winners. Kentucky is the hardest school to coach at and Smith knew what he was getting into. He hasn't met expectations for three years now, and that means, time to go. Only a Final 4 could save him at this point which won't happen b/c his players lack fire.
