Forget caffeine, drink more water. So many people don't realize that grogginess and sluggishness and headaches, especially first thing in the morning, can be caused by dehydration. I used to have as much average level of caffeine in my diet as most people, yet overall I just didn't intake a lot of fluid, particularly water. I was easily tired, shaky after my morning coffee, and got headaches easily. About ten years ago I gave up all caffeine for various reasons, and began drinking FAR more plain water. Now I drink at least 64 ounces a day, slowly throughout the day. Do NOT drink excess amounts of water all at once--that can be harmful; instead, sip enough throughout the entire day. It was hard for me to get used to drinking so much plain water, but I did it and now I actually crave it! I start the day with one full glass as well (think about it; if you've slept all night, you haven't gotten ANY fluids for probably more than eight hours, maybe even longer!) Since I've been doing this, I am rarely tired and run-down, rarely get a headache, sleep better, wake up easier and never, ever crash and burn from caffeine withdrawal which can happen as easily as missing your regular caffeine by just a few hours! Plus my eyes look brighter and more awake, and my skin is soft and smooth without the use of ANY special lotions. Many noticed the difference when the long-term effect of a lot of water drinking started to show through. Try it, at least for a little while; you won't be sorry!

If this is an everyday problem for you no matter how much sleep you get you might ask your doctor to check you for low blood iron AND for thyroid function. Is it worse around your period? Could be low iron due to blood loss.
Dehydration can cause you to look and feel tired, too. Do you mostly drink sodas and coffee? Both contain diuretics that will dehydrate you -- switch to water and drink at least 6 to 8 glasses a day. Same thing if you drink alcohol regularly. And, of course, nothing makes your face and skin look tired and your body feel dragged out faster than smoking cigarettes.
Regular exercise helps -- a brisk 15 to 30 minute walk will wake you up and improve circulation. If you have time for it, a really hearty workout (like an hour of aerobics or cardio) where you work up a real sweat will energize you and take 10 years or more off your face.
So, your tiredness could be due to any number of factors -- these are just a few suggestions for possible causes and what you can do about it.

First of all you need to get at least 8 hours of sleep everyday, also believe it or not eating healthy and regular exercise produce more stamina which in turn will give you the natural energy that you need. The reason why people drink coffee is either because like myself enjoy it or because they do not follow the mentioned facts above. Good luck! sleep tight...

Caffiene, but the "healthy" kind (there's no real healthy form of caffiene, but there are some kinds that have added benefits).
Green tea has caffiene, and also has lots of anti-oxidants which kill free radicals in your body. Free radicals attack your heart, liver and kidneys, and can overall, slow you down.
It's recommended that you drink green tea just to maintain a healthy lifestyle. So try a regimen of this each day (not more than t wo cups, or you might get jittery), and you should feel more awake and healthier :)

Unless you're getting 8 hours of good sound sleep each night, don't look any farther for a cure to tiredness! The list of health problems caused by lack of sleep keeps growing every day, as they discover more and more how important it is to our bodies, and minds.
