i have a friend who loves puzzle pirates, it's a mix of pirate stuff and tetris/breakout style games...you can play for free on somebody else's crew, but to have your own ship you have to pay...
also disney has a game called virtual magic kingdom, which is kinda like gaia, but due to the fact that it's disney, there's a load of rules...
